Village Show

On Saturday it was our village's 75th Village Show.   There are lots of catagories to enter.  Flowers, Photography, crafts, vegetables and food.  Open to all age groups.
Everything was maticulously arranged by the organisers

The Silverware was polished
There was some fine specimens on show

Some were artistically displayed (blurry photo sorry)
my quilt is on the left.

Its a shame to eat this little guy!

Me.   I won 3rd prize.  My friend pipped me to 2nd place with her bear.

At the end of the day items not collected were auctioned off , proceeds going to the village hall and its upkeep.
It was a good day.
Last night we went for a 10mile bike ride with a stop halfway for refreshments, it was lovely to be out enjoying the summer.  Today, it looks like another beautiful day.
Summer really feels like it  has well and truly  arrived.
Must fly and enjoy the day.

Having a great day.

Today is my birthday, as the weather is so unpredictable, Ive delayed my day out. Instead just pottering about, and enjoying my pressies

A David Austin "Geoff Hamilton" rose bush.  I know just the spot for it. I used to love watching Geoff on BBC2.

   This delightful mug.

What more could I ask for
1. l love my cuppa,
2.  Its green, my favourite colour and
3. its in a shape of a campervan
three favourite things rolled into one.  My daughter knows me well.

A bottle of Baileys, which always goes down well.  The card on the right my friend made, even the rose, very clever.

Sometime ago last year,  a friend of ours got a pet lamb for his girls, and I asked that when it was shorn if I could have the wool.  Well last night I had a visit and a present of a large sack of smelly lambswool.

Today,  I took a bucket full of lambswool and and pair of rubber gloves and rinsed the smelly wool 6 times till the water was clear.  Now Im not sure what to do next.

I need to wash it, to get the lanolin out, and when Ive washed Im not sure what Im going to do with it.  It seems a shame to use it for stuffing, though it would make wonderful stuffing.  It would be lovely if I could felt it or have it spun and knit something, maybe a present for his girls.  Any ideas out there. please.  I.ve also been busy creating, it started with a sketch and 3 days later, I have created this lovely Yorkshire Lady, she seems abit like Marmite.  You either love or hate her!!

Busy week

A lot happening this week.   Yesterday we went to a Christening.  Its Yonks since we went to one of those.  Very nice afternoon, just hubbie and me.  The kids are now at the age when they  dont really want to come to "Dos" anymore.

Its also that time of the year again.  This week is mine, my brothers, and my sisters birthday.

So quite a busy week. Hubbie is on a weeks holiday, so hopefully a bit of  DIY and a  trip out will be on the cards.  Then on Wednesday  I have a job interview.  Very excited,  not had a job interview since 2002. Its not "the dream job" just a cleaning job, but  it will still enable me to do my crafting, and its just around the corner, so no travelling expenses which is good, so touch wood.   "A jobs, a job", as we say around here, I'm amazed I've got an interview!

So Fingers crossed

Norris the trepid explorer

Just a quick post Ive just completed Norris.  He is a little brown rabbit made from Mohair with a rucksack of goodies, .

He likes to explore the Yorkshire Wolds

but he seems to get lost very easily. (Reminds me of someone!)

So he always takes a map and compass, and of course lunch

carrots, a flask of tea and a jam tart, yummy.  SOLD

"Oh we do love to be beside the seaside"

On Sunday we took a trip to the seaside, the sun was out and it was a glorious, blustery day.   Down the main street heading to the seafront

Of course any sudden movement attracts Milly's attention

We are walking to the far end where the tide is out  and the sun seems to be.

Gosh! Whose large feet are those?.........

We loved the change of air, especially Milly

She seems quite partial to seaweed

Afterwards we went to Peasholm Park, with its nice walks.  It has   a lake, rowing, putting etc.  The park was based on the Thomas Minton willow plate and opened in 1912 hence the oriental theme.

Followed by a rare treat.  Good ole "Fish and Chips". An enjoyable day. Hope you also enjoyed your day of rest!!
